Product Overview
FTP-Stream Business Edition provides fast file transfer
and storage so you can share files with customers or
colleagues using any web browser or FTP software. You
manage your site on the FTP-Stream control panel and
access your online storage using: The Navigator
(a unique and brandable web page); The Widget
(embed file transfer into any web page), or using FTP software.
One Time Site Setup
On completion of the site purchase you fill out the
site setup form:
- Hostname – Choose the address for your
site within the ftp-stream.com domain. For example, if
you are The Acme Corporation" you may want to choose
acme. Your site would then be available at
http://acme.ftpdtream.com. You may also want to use a
site name within your domain such as ftp.acme.com. See

- Server Center – Choose a server center
for your site from the option list. The US and UK server
centres provide fast connections worldwide. Choose Hong
Kong for best connections to mainland China.
- Admin Password – Enter a password for
the special site login admin. See Logins below
for more details on the admin login.
Site Management on The Control Panel
Logins
To upload or download files you need to login to your
FTP-Stream site. You add and manage logins on the
control panel, click the Logins tab. Your site has one
permanent login admin. This is the special login you
keep for yourself as it has rights to see into and transfer files
from and to all your customer folders.
Adding Customer Logins Click on the Add
button to create a customer login – the number you
are able to create depends on the FTP-Stream plan you
purchased. For each login you set the following:
- Login name – a short name which you
enter in all lower case which you will give to your
customer along with their password.
- Home folder – assign each login a home
folder – they are jailed to that home folder when
they login. That means that you can upload files for
Customer A and they will never be seen by
Customer B.
- Password – set the password for this login
- Expiry – set an expriy for this login or leave the default (never expire).
- Active – Uncheck to set the login as inactive.
The FTP and FTPS Tab
On this tab allow or disallow login using FTP and FTPS
and set the access rights using these protocols. FTPS
is only available if this service is subscribed to the
Encryption module.
For most applications leave "Deny FTP file listing" unchecked.
The SFTP Tab On this tab allow or disallow
login using the SFTP protocol and set the access rights
for SFTP. SFTP is only available if this service is
subscribed to the Encryption module.
