The Web Tab
On this tab allow or disallow Web logins using
the Navigator and Widget and set the
access rights. HTTPS is only available if this service
is subscribed to the Encryption module.
The Public Login You can set any of your
customer logins to be the Public Login. A login set to
Public is automatically logged in when the
Navigator or Widget is accessed with no need to enter a
user name or password. Only one of
your customer logins can be set to Public at any one
time.
This control applies to the Navigator and Widget
interfaces only It has no effect on FTP.
Sharing Mode
When you set a login as Public you can then chose to
enable Sharing Mode. In standard mode when a user accesses your site without logging in (as the Public login)
they can upload files to you, but the files are
saved in a special folder visible only to the special
login admin.
In sharing mode uploads
are written to the Public login's home folder and are
immediately visible and available for download. This
should generally be avoided as there is a possibility
that your site could be abused as a free file transfer
facility. Sharing mode is therefore off by default. We
advise that you only allow Sharing Mode where there is
some other form of protection such as HTTPD login /
password protection on your Intranet for example.
This control applies only to a login set to
Public. Uploads to password protected logins are always
written to the currently viewed folder.
This control
applies to the Navigator and Web Widget
only. It has no effect on FTP.
Quicklink Generation Quicklinks are encoded
links to download files from your site without logging
in. Quicklinks can be generated by authorized users by
clicking on the icon of any file listed on the
Navigator or Web Widget.
The admin login can always create Quicklinks, check this
box to grant rights to this login to create
Quicklinks.
