One-Time Site Setup

Initialize

Login to the Control Panel at www.maytech.net with the login and password you set at registration. Click on the big blue button FTP-Stream for Business.

On the site initialization form set the following:

  • The password for the special FTP login admin.
  • The hostname for your site, the hostname will form part of the URL (address) of your site.
  • The password for the admin FTP login. The admin login is special and is the login you keep for your use. The logins you make on the control panel are jailed to their home folder, the admin login has access to all folders.
  • Options and email notification addresses for any additional modules you have purchased.

Click submit to complete the initial setup and go to the main FTP-Stream control panel.

Make Logins

Add logins for your customers, colleagues or suppliers – whoever needs access to your site.

Click on the big blue button FTP-Stream Business, click Add New Login.

There's just four fields you must fill in: login, real name, home folder (see notes below), and password. For information on how to fill these fields and more about the additional controls see the help in the right column.

You allocate logins a home folder to which they are jailed, and have no visibility outside.

Login Tab

Organize home folders to suit your business process. Normally just give each login their own home folder, but your needs may differ so bear in mind the following:

  • You can set more than one login to share a home folder.
  • You can send the same login to many people.
  • You can setup your logins in hierarchies. For example set the home for the sales manager at /Sales and the home for the procurement manager at /Suppliers, then set the homes for customers like: /Sales/Customer1 and for suppliers like /Suppliers/Supplier1. This allows the sales and procurement managers to transfer files in / out, and manage files in their respective /Sales and /Suppliers sub-folders.

On the three sub-tabs FTP, SFTP, Web you can set this user's access and file management rights for each of the three protocols.

Transfering Files

There's three ways for you and your customers to access your site:

  1. By FTP Using FTP software (such as CuteFTP or Filezilla on the PC or Cyberduck or Transmit on the Mac). To access by FTP you need the hostname or IP address of your site which you will find on the Site Properties tab.
  2. Your Stream web page. See the link on Site Properties tab for the URL. Also edit any login, click on the Web tab at the bottom, and see the encoded quicklink which logs in the user bypassing login and password entry.
  3. You can embed file transfer right into your web page using Web Widgets. To enable file transfer in your website go to the Widget tab, and use the wizard to gerate the code that meets your needs.
